I see the light! I know, I'm way behind on my blogging. Well I'm going to do a large slew of posts to try and catch up.

I've started a bioptic driving program. For my entire life I was always told that I had no chance of ever driving because of my horrible eye sight. Now to clarify; I am not blind, I am not leagally blind. I just have genitic condition that gives me bad vision as well as the disease Cone Distrophy. My sight is corrected to 20/80.

veslarge.jpgThe bioptic driving program fits the driver with a visual aid allowing them to see at least 20/40 and puts them through a program of driving with a special instructor who specializes in bioptic driving. The image to the right is my bioptic aid. It is called a OcutecH VES-II it magnafies things 6X. It allows me to see 20/40. This device is used to spot objected. In other words you look through it and find what you need, look at it, then return to the lenes in the bottom (these lenses don't have any perscription in them).

The 2nd thing I use is a pair of contacts. Now you may say it's nothing new. But these contacts correct my red color blindness. I got a set of contacts to try without the red to see if the perscription was ok. It ended up being wrong in the left eye so I went this evening and got them redone, they will be in next week sometime.

I'm excited about the whole prospect of driving, something I thought that I would never be able to do and now I'm getting the chance.
