Good-Bye Supertones-You'll be missed by this fan

So the O.C. Supertones are calling it quits after 10 years as a band.  Man this is a major let down.  I’ve loved the Supertones since their first album back in 95. I own every peice of work they’ve ever put out and saw them once in concert.  They are truely great talent.  Their sound is unmatched and their dedication to speading God’s word and gettting young people exciting is unequaled by any other band in my opinion.  So if you are a fan, GO SEE A SHOW NEXT YEAR!  If you are not a fan check out their site and listen to their tunes, you’ll like them, I promise.  These guys need all our support, show them much love.

Halo2 beat....finally

I finally got around to beating Halo2 (H2) tonight.  I’ve heard nothing but complaints about the campain mode.  I thought the campain was good.  I sucked at Halo1 and I did the compain mode to get my skillz up to speed (played normal skill level).  It worked, I can now play 1/2 way descent.  Sure it leaves you hanging, but doesn’t any good trilogy do that?  Look at Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the rings, it just like dropped the story and made you wait.  And heck, what are most people bitching about I hear “I never beat the campain mode in Halo1, I just got it for MP mode”.  I think it’s great game, co-op rocks, LIVE IS FREAKING SWEET.  I’m happy that I got it, got it free, and beat the sh*t out of it!

Black Friday from the point of a retail clerk!

I saw something very interesting during Blask Friday.  I had a 16 hour shift that day went from 7am to 11pm.  In that time I saw many vary different groups of people come into my store, but not like walking in groups.  What was odd is you can group these people by time of entry.

Obviously we had our bargin hunters in at open, and we had some descent deals going on.  Before 11am we sold about 25 PS2 and 19 Xbox.  These people were is good spirits.  They had no problem if their transactions took a minute or two which gave us to explain the deals and such.  These are my dream retail customers, ones that I think of when I think about my job.  They have their mind set on what they want, you grab it, tell them about a deal, they see you are trying to help them get free or cheap stuff and that not trying to take advantage of them and are very kind of thankful.

2nd group in our doors was the “did we miss the deals?” group they are the ones that missed the PS2s but are upset we didn’t keep them the in stock.  We have confirmed reports that we were the only ones in town who had systems, which is nice to know.  We rock.  Anyway, these people are looking to get in, score a deal and run like hell (mainly to catch the tail end of an Early Bird Special).

Then around 2 or so you get the after lunch “just looking” bunch, this usually allows you to restock, organize and allow for a break.  Then aorund 6:30 is the “just-got-off-work-and-cashed-my-check-now-it’s-going-down-the-shitter” folks.  They have big ticket items, and usually have the kids with them, kinda in a hurry to get home for the evening.

A little later we see the “I-just-stole-this-GTA-and-want-cash-for-it” scumbags.  Ok, why would you try and sell a copy of GTA everyday for a week for cash? (different copy each time).  Haha, we might be odd but we’re not DUMB!  These people drive me nuts.  Scum, nuff’ said!

Next to last is the “stay-til-20-minutes-after-they-close” people.  Gotta love the ones you have to kick out.  We usually to walk up to a demo unit while kids are playing and just shut it off, that is the only way they will leave.

And finally the “yell-through-the-gate-and-ask-dumb-questions” straglers.  Not a ton of them, but fun people usually.  I usally like to start up the vacum when these people start talking just so they have to try and yell over the noise.

I know you see a lot of these people in any retail job, but I like to notice the shift chnages.  Overall it was a fun day, I wasn’t scheduled 16 hours, but they needed me so I stayed.  My legs killed by the end of the day (had 2 short breaks, but those didn’t last more than 5 minutes).  Don’t know if I want to do that again next year, I figure I’ll have to work the “last-minute-dad’s-holiday-shopping-at-15pm-christmas-eve” shift.  Don’t you love the names of these people???

Happy Bird Day

Happy bird day ya’ll.  I’m having a pretty lousy day.  I’m stuck in my room trying to troubleshoot an issue with a client’s account which is just not wanting to work and really I can’t do anything else til it’s done.  It’s official, after I fix this issue I am no longer going to resell hosting, with my schedule as it is, this is some thing I can no longer do, I dont’ need the financial situation or the stress of support.  I knew this was coming months ago, and now it’s finally got to that point.  I’ll have some unhappy clients.

What a way to spend thanksgiving.

How to daisey chain 2 routers

In my house we have a house router sending net out to all 7 pcs in the house, but now that I have an Xbox (laptop runs on the wireless) I needed another Ethernet cable to run to it.  So I decided to try and daisey chain a router under the house router, so after almost pulling my hair out here is how you do it.  It’s so easy I’m stupid for not seeing it from the start.

1) Plug a patch cable from a LAN port on the Router A (cable modem router) to LAN port on Router B
2) Disable DHCP on Router B

Ya, it’s they simple, sure it kills a port on the router, but it works like a dream, it pretty much just bi-passes the firewall and such on router B so you can file sharing and the such between the 2 routers.  Why did it take me so long to figure this out?  Cause I’m a chode.  Plain and simple.

A little help please

Looking for some apps that are must have for notebook users, I just feel there are some sweet things I could have loaded up on my notebook.  Post your comments!  I’ll highlight the best and give a shout out to the submitter.  (Lame prize I know, what do you expect?  I’m a poor college student!)

Good Gaming Ahead

I’ve got some great gaming ahead of me.  I finally got a copy of Halo2, and who cares if the campain is good, the Live support rules.  Also I picked up a copy of Need for Speed Underground 2 for the PC, it came a week before the console counter-part and we $10 cheaper so I just had to.  So if you need me you’ll have to try damn hard, I’ll be doing some rocking gaming.  I’ve been waiting for some good games for a while, now they hit me all at once.  Life doesn’t suck so much anymore.

Oh and did I mention, Halo2 was free?

MSN Search=Google Clone!

Any of you messed with the new MSN Search BETA from MS?  I fooled around with it for like 10 minutes and I have just one thing to say “If you want to revolutionize the search industry, here’s a hint, don’t copy the king”.  It just seems exactly like good with an MSN logo on it and a “we hate Google” attitude.  I bet when the programmers that work on the script need something they go to Google.  It just rolls off the fingers when you want something not the current beta site (beta.search.msn.com).  Plus I’d like that google just so simple on the homepage, I doubt they will make the MSN.com homepage that simple, they’ll have to make a new domain for the search.  I’ll stick with the big G for the moment.
