You'll need the latest patches to play. We will kinda play whatever we feel like that day but I'll try to post info about the game (except my IP addy) on the blog. I'll also post tons of pics.
We also plan on getting a nice LCD projector here and having a XBOX, PS2, and GameCube here to play as well as DVDs. Should be a fun geeky party. Posted by chris at 02:02 AM Personal • (17) Trackbacks

Tech TV on the Auction block?
According to Leo's Blog it looks like Uncle Paul is looking to dump what is left of Tech TV to someone else. It's odd that it is valued at the same price that it was when he bought it, guess that is better than it losing value. I hope someone good buys it (hint hint ZIFF DAVIS hint hint) and makes it great like it used to be, but it doesn't sound like that will happen. It's too bad too. Sounds like Sony and some SCI-FI just are looking at it. Sorry folks, you will lose ALL your viewers if you do that. I hope and prey for the best. God Bless my beloved TechTV.

HP Pavilion ZE5400 review
I had the chance to review a new laptop the other day. I ordered it for a friend and before they used it they wanted all the nasty crap HP puts on the notebook off and put some antivirus software on and that kind of thing.
So I figured that while I had the machine I would go ahead and write up a review.
First off we’ll start out with some system specs. This machine is for a college student who doesn’t have a ton of cash to spend and needs something that will last for 4 years of high school. I was given a $1200 budget to purchase this machine and the final price when they get their rebates back from HP will be $1202. So here we go with the specs.
Intel P4M @ 2.4 GHZ with 512k of cache
256MB of DDR memory (the client plans to add another 256 after market)
14.1 TFT LCD Monitor
30GB HD
24X8X8X32 CD Combo Drive
32MB Video Memory
After we ordered it and got it via UPS 6 days later the first thing we noticed that this machine is beautiful! HP is paying attention to style and it shows! The blue LED lights on this machine give it a glow about it (excuse the pun). It has light for
Power Button
Shortcut buttons (Mail, Internet, Quicklock, TV, and Help/Support)
Front panel lights (Power on, HD, and AC power)
After pressing the power button I was almost blinded by all the light that came from this notebook. It sports a silver and blue look that has some matalic shades to it. The Altec Lancing speakers have a grill look to them and are located right under the hinges for the LCD.
As for portability – this machine isn’t what I would call an ultra portable. The machine is thick, much thinker than most modern notebooks. I didn’t get a measurement before I had to retrun the unit but I would say almost 2 inches think! But even for being that large it is just around 7 pounds, which isn’t bad if you plan on using a laptop bag.
As for the connectivity of this machine – it has it covered. It has the following ports.
1 X Firewire
3 X USB
1 X S-Video
1 X VGA Out
1 X PS2
1 X Parraell
1 X Serial
1 X Ethernet
1 X Modem
1 X IR port
Pros:
I love the look and feel of this machine. It draws a crowd. I was using it and had several comments on the machine. Even though it is big it still feels good on your lap, has a good keyboard and touch pad.
Cons:
Like I have said twice above, this is a large machine, nothingI would be taking around with me everywhere.
The IR port is on the front of the machine, if you use that port and need to transfer things to another notebook it would be a pain to use the machine and the IR port at the same time.
The fans on this machine run constantly. I know it has a fast CPU to cool but my Asus notebook is almost silent while running even on AC power. The machine keeps cool for the most part but I would rather have a little quiet warm machine.
As for speed. It’s a pretty quck little machine, while I had it I just did web surfing and the such and didn’t run any benchmarks on it.
As for batteries, it has a 8 cell Lithium Ion battery that lasted through about 3.5 hours of web surfing. That is plenty of a machine with the P4m in it.
Over all I really like this HP unit. It’s got speed and beautiy in the same package. If HP could get the size down on this machine I would say go buy one. But if you are on the move constantly and want a machine that can keep up with you without you needing a fork lift you might want to think about a Sony Vaio or some of the ultra portable Dell’s.
Price: $1300
Retailer: HP

Mass of Business?
Holy cow! What is up with all this business? My computer business has been soo slow the last 6 months and now within the last week I've had about 8 people call with PC issues (some virus related) and a few new clients with new machines, I've have a couple website requests. I have some meetings planned to get those rolling. I'm starting to sound like Mike aren't I?
I'm glad to see it come about, I've put a lot of work into the company and don't want to see it go down the drain. I've been on the phone all morning and still have a list of people to call. I pulled out my Palm just to start keeping track of everything again, too much for my poor little head! I know this means major $$$ but it's just stressful!
Oh by the way -- Anyone want a website done? Posted by chris at 12:35 PM AlphaGeek • (8) Trackbacks

Silly Blaster!
No I'm not a blaster victim, I'm the guy who has to clean up after it. I think I'd rather have got hit by it. I've cleaned it off of 7 systems now.

I know, I'm lazy!
"Honey I hate to be the one to break this to you, but your site is kind of boring when you don't write anything in it for five days." -My Girlfriend
I know I've been lazy, but I've also been busy. AlphaGeek is getting busy with webpages and PCs (mostly laptops for college). It's nice to be back doing the thing I love. For a while I thought my business was dead then after the accident it started to pick up. I figure people don't screw up their computers in the summer. I will say I like some of the new HP's that are coming out. They have a nice design, good battery life, nice speakers, and pretty blue lights. The only thing I have against the ZE models I've been getting for people is that they are very think but are not too heavy. I've been pretty happy with my Asus, except for battery life it runs great! I've been using it to record the service at church and put it on CD. I have noticed that if I use the AC power I get about 60% more noise in the recording, I think this is due to the old wiring in the church (built in 1975). I've been using Cool Edit Pro and it has a great design and good feature set. If you want good audio editing and have a little cash I say go for it!
School has been going on for 5 days now and it really is boring. The best part of it is seeing Kati (my Girlfriend). She makes me smile. If you do some searching on my sit you'll find a pic of her. Oh my schedule (my first quarter is REALLY easy)
1st - US Government
2nd - Algebra II (had to retake the 2nd quarter because of a student teacher who couldn't teach)
3rd - Business and Personal Law
4th - Debate
I'm glad it's my senior year, it's about time I get out of school! Not that I don't love Kati or my friends, but school is kinda a bad memory for me and I want it to pass. Bullies, bad teachers, and hard times (losing mom, etc) fill most of them but there are a few shinging moments.
Therapy has sucked the last few times. My arm isn't wanting to straighten, and it is relly really sore! But I guess it has to be done, thank goodness for vicodin.
I can't run Cross Country this year due to breaking my arm, but I need 50 more varsity points to get my letter jacket (which I already purchased) so I'm going to manage CC this year, get the points and get the $75 refund from the school. Should be fun. I also have to do the school's football team's website, I think I'll take my 2nd Wifi router to the school and see if it won't reach the football field.
