Kati "Who is your girlfriend? How come you never mention her? Is she hot? I'd like to read more about her." -Tony

I don't know how much I am allowed to say. But yes I am seeing a beautiful girl right now. Her name is Kati, we have been together for 6 weeks now. I met her on a drama club field trip back in early June. I better ask before I post a picture of her for you all to drool over. If you watch my comments you'll see her post every once in a while, all I ask is that you guys play nice.

UPDATE: I got permission to post a pictures, I cropped this one out of a group shot, click to enlarge. Posted by chris at 12:40 PM Personal • (6) Trackbacks
Firmware issues The other day I upgraded my router's firmware to 2.20 from 2.18. The only new feature/fix was that it gave you static DHCP, not a big deal but I figured I would keep up with the updates.

After installing it on my D-Link 614+ I started to notice that traffic accross port 80 was incredibly unstable and no possible on some of my machines. I thought it was an issue with the machines so I fiddles with them for a few hours but nothing seemed to fix them. Both wired and wireless connections were screwy.

So I contacted D-Link support letting them know what was up. I got a reply a few hours later saying that I should reboot the router, set it to defaults, then change the settings to what I needed. Well I had done that about 40 times. Slapped them another email saying I had done that and after going back to 2.18 everything was hunky-dory. Ended up I got another reply saying I should just stickwith 2.18. This kind of ticked me off, just because there is an issue I shouldn't have to stay with the old stuff, but i didn't email them back, just stuck with the old stuff.

Ok, so today I jumped over to the 614+'s page on the D-Link site and noticed that 2.20 is no longer available for download. I found it odd that right after my complaint it was taken down. I had been up there from July 1 - 28 and then finally taken down. I'm guessing they'll just skip 2.20 and fix the issue in another upcoming release.

I've been very happy with my D-Link router. I have an SMC WIFI router around but it gets VERY hot and since I keep my networking stuff in an inclosed space I don't need something that will produce that much heat.

In a related issue. This is a question for all you geeks out there. Back when I had my old HP notebook (Betsy) I could get 100% signal strength as long as I was within 20 feet of the router (using my D-Link DWL-650 WIFI PCMCIA card). But not with my new Asus notebook (Janelle) I can't get ANYTHING over 90%. I have tried both the drivers on the CD and the drivers on the D-Link website. I thought maybe it was a power issue but I can't seem to find where to change that. Don't get me wrong it covers most of my house but the connection just isn't as solid. I'm using the same card in the new notebook as I did the old one and I don't have another machine to test the card out on. Any thoughts/idea? Posted by chris at 12:36 PM Hardware • (6) Trackbacks

Gnomedex thoughts Anyone notice me at Gnomedex? Of course not! I wasn't there silly. Odd thing is, for the last 3 years I've had people say they would go and we'd have everything planned except for ordering tickets, and then they back out on me! I don't know, maybe I'm not supposed to attend? Am I cursed? Someone wanna hook me up with a ride next year?

This would all be easier if I could drive, but God decided that that wouldn't ahppen any time soon so I'll just have to work with what I have.

I think I'll try to go next year, I hear it's going to be in my B-Day month, rumor has it that is Mike's B-Day month as well, but I think *I* should get the penthouse and not him, besides he's crazy and has a baby to worry about, silly webhead! File Sharing Sues Worried that you may get busted for file swapping? Click here to see if your username/IP address has been put on the RIAA's list of people to sue. Looks like my IP checked out, but I haven't downloaded anything for a while Thanks to Nate for the link. Posted by chris at 12:52 AM File Sharing • (0) Trackbacks

Not casted up Ok Ok, so I didn't get a cast yesterday. It doesn't look like I'll be getting one. The dr. is happy with the progress my arm is having and decided to just keep the stiches in and just put a brace on.

Now I never posted a picture of it but I had a HUGE splint on my arm that went from my shoulder and down to my fingers. This splint made it impossible to type and mouse with that hand. But since he liked the way my arm looked he just put a brace on that goes from my should to my elbow and allows me to type, mouse, and do other things with my right hand.

From the looks of the poll most of you have not had a broken bone, but think if you haven't moved your muscles in a limb for 2 weeks and they were completely supported my plastic, they would be weak and very sore. Well that is exactly how my wrist and elbow is. They say in a couple of weeks I'll have to see a theropist (sp) to work on my range of motion. But I'm working very hard on that myself, I figure if I can get my range back by my self it will save me from a guy pulling on my joints forcing them to move instead of me stretching them SLOWLY!

This brace is put together in such a way that I can put a white T-Shirt then the brace then my regular shirt over that. With the splint I could only wear 3X shirts since that was the only shirt I could get over my huge arm and the splint.

So overall I'm very happy with the brace, I'm in it for 2 more weeks then I'm not quite sure what he's going to do. Maybe I'll be out of everything in 2 weeks but it's hard to say. Oh and school starts on Aug. 15, where did summer go? Oh well, it's my last year! HECK YA! Posted by chris at 11:52 PM ArmBreak 2003 • (0) Trackbacks

Casting up Oh ya, I get this splint off Monday and get the real cast.

Some of you don't know but, they did have to operate and put a 7" plate and 8 screws in my arm so it will heal quickly. Guess I'll be setting off metal detectors from now on. Posted by chris at 11:21 PM ArmBreak 2003 • (0) Trackbacks
Back to work I returned to work today. It was tiring and I was slow waiting on customers but it was good to be back making $$$.

It's strange how old things make us happy. I found a CD wallet in my closet that had some CD's in it that I had not heard in 10 years.

Odd statement of the day. Women can scare the crap out of us with their questions. Posted by chris at 11:18 PM ArmBreak 2003 • (27) Trackbacks
