Come together (and build a barn) - Electric Amish Back in 7th grade shop class I started to build a medicine cabinet for our house. It ws going to be really cool. But after the first week I knew that I would have no chance in finishing it. I was always helping other people out in the class, I never had time to work on my project and with the class being only 45 min long it was impossible. Somehow I just got a set of shelves put together that has just sat around here for longest time. I finally found a use for it!

I can't deny it, I'm a f*cking roit! I know I have always siad that I would be a PC gamer, and I don't plan on switching anytime soon. But I did pick up a PS2 the other day, let's just say I got a deal I could refuse on it. And I'll tell you the main reason I got it was so I could play Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 on it, it didn't come out of PC for some dumb reason! I was ticked. Anywayz, I'll probably pick up GTA: Vice City for it as well, any suggestions of games I should get? I don't like mid evil/hack and slash games. I DO like sports games and "fun titles" (Rachet and Clank, THPS, etc.) I'm open to suggestions.

Free just doesn't work I have made my conclusion,

FREE DOES NOT WORK!

I'm serious, I am no longer going to join a website staff where there are no rules and no pay! It's not the pay that I'm worried about, but for a project to work correctly it has to be well kept. I have been dumb and keep joining these free content site staffs and the sites end up crashing, the staff doesn't post because they have no insentive to do so. I've seen it happen too many time. If I EVER did a site like that I would either do the ENTIRE site myself or pay some GOOD, RELIABLE people to run it that I could trust with my life, sounds bad, but it's the wicked truth.

Don't get me wrong, I _LOVE_ free content, but it has to be done right do the writters get rewarded and the site still makes money and the readers are happy. It's a hard thing to balance out, and I will say that I haven't quite figured it out. The only successful project I ever did got shut down so I have nothing to show.

I love Web design to death, but I'm going to have find some new friends to run the thing. Here is a good hint if you want to start a site like this. DON'T STAFF IT WITH 15 year olds! I've seen that happen too many times and end up killing the site. I know I'm not the best writer in the world, but some of these guys can't spell "the" and don't know how to use the SHIFT button on their keyboard. I wish I could say how to fix these problems but I can't. So if you were going to ask me to be on your site staff, pay me, have the other staff post articles, or leave me the heck alone! Party UP people! I can't tell you much, but we did have a cast party afterward, it was a hella good time! But it's one of those parties that you can't share what happened. Just an FYI, I didn't get laid, no sexual contacts (nothing too bad at least j/k), and no drugs, but still a hella good time!

But you know it's a wild lil' party when you come back with one of these babies!

Don't ask, long story. I know this is a kinda useless entry, but I know some of thoese people at the party will read this, and to those people, one word. "Walrus". Posted by chris at 01:52 AM Drama • (0) Trackbacks
Dracula 2003 Even though I haven't mentioned it here, but I was part of the Drama Club's proformances this year. I could be an awesome cast member and do a lead roll, but you guys already hear me babble about how busy I am and this would throw about 30 zillion more things into the mix and really mess it up. So I decide to run the sound, announce and help with the lights.

It has been a very stressful last 2 weeks, if it isn't one thing, it's another. For instance, I had this last week planned down to the hour! I knew exactly when I had to run where, sometimes down to the second! It was nice, I could get things done and people were happy with me! So I was thinking that I had to work at Video World on Tuesday and then I could go to the practice on Wednesday and everyone would be happy since the show opened on Thursday. I when I got to work, I got a rood awakening, I didn't work Tuesday, for some reason my brain thought I did because it would have worked out sooo nice. But heck no! I ended up working out ok but just added about 4 times more stress into the situation!

You guys might remember me ranting about the POS light board at have for the light system at my beloved high school, anyway, it's a total hunk of junk from the 1940's, 1/2 of it doesn't work. So Jason (aka The Lighting Guy) and I have to run the damn thing. Well, let me correct myself, he runs it, I get thinks running. Since I still work in the office I get some time that I can work on it, I got him 2 more rows of blues working, 1 more row of whites, 3 more apron lights (front lights) and reaimed the apron lights. Let's just say that the lights look 1000% better after those changes. Also, since we did Dracula, there was a creepy crypt sceen, I thought it would be awesome to have a nice thick stage fog comming in during that, our director had the machine but was planning to use it, I finally convinced her to use it and WOW, that makes a scene looking UBER creepy!

Also, I didn't make very many of the practices, but when I started coming to more toward show, I noticed some spots in the show that TOTALLY needed some spot light work! Like there is a part where Dracula walks out in the croud and completely out of light, it was horrible. So I grabbed a janiror and we got the spot mounted in the secondary light booth. It made all the dirfference in the world, and we used a red spot for a couple things and it just added that much more. I was very happy with the way the spot turned out! There is just problem with the 2nd light booth, it has sound proof glass in in between the proformance area and the booth itself, so the people running it can't hear a thing! Luckily, at church we have a system for the hearing impared that you hook up to your sound system and it will retransmit it to belt pack with ear pieces. Let's just say it was a total life saver! I hung a hot mic over the stage and they could hear EVERYTHING in the room! Props go out to Phil and his deaf friends (you know who you are!)

Oh, like I said, I didn't get to go to many of the practices, so I didn't know the set changes (we had a ton of them) but since we had the light booth covered and no one was giving the lighting guy his ques to bring up the lights, I decided to help out with set changes and kinda be the flood director, we was a blast, things got done for once! I might just do that next year!

If you think I'm bragging, I am, this is my journal right? I don't expect you to comment and say "Way to go!", I just want to be able to look back years from now and remeber this show. Just a reminder, I don't force you to read my crap.

One last thing, some before show and after show pics are here Posted by chris at 01:39 AM Drama • (0) Trackbacks
Case modding 101 You know I have my phat new case right? It's really PHAT (and I paid PHAT cash for it, mind you) Anyway, I had this whole cool blue and silver look going on and then I noticed that my CD drives looked like crap! So a friend and I decided to mod them! We ran to K-Mart (where he works BTW), anyway, we took off the plastic, added 3 coats of silver Krylon and 3 coats of matt finish clear coat. FYI, we used this tutorial.

I had to us CD drives with no covers for about 4 days but it was well worth it. Here are some cool pics from the whole process. Posted by chris at 12:42 AM PC Mods • (0) Trackbacks

Join my lan party I'm going to be playing some Tony Hawk 3 online tomorrow, the name of the server will be "Fart Cheese2" I can't say exactly when it'll be up, but if you play and want to join me I'll try to keep it up a little. Does anyone know of a dedicated server software for THPS3? I wouldn't mind having that on the notebook so I could keep the server up all day til I got work! BTW, I have tomorrow off school. I'll be painting my CD drives then too! Posted by chris at 12:27 AM Gaming • (0) Trackbacks
Honey, we shrunk our UT Players I've been doing a descent amout of gaming, I finally got unburried from work long enough to enjoy it!

I was playing Unreal 2k3 the other day. I've noticed that some guys up together some level with HUGE objects, most of them are every day household items, but they are 200X bigger then your players so it adds a huge twist to the game. The servers they are run on come up to the top of my list, they have good pings. If you have the game and broadband, go check it out! Posted by chris at 12:06 AM Gaming • (0) Trackbacks
