I see the light! I know, I'm way behind on my blogging. Well I'm going to do a large slew of posts to try and catch up.

I've started a bioptic driving program. For my entire life I was always told that I had no chance of ever driving because of my horrible eye sight. Now to clarify; I am not blind, I am not leagally blind. I just have genitic condition that gives me bad vision as well as the disease Cone Distrophy. My sight is corrected to 20/80.

veslarge.jpgThe bioptic driving program fits the driver with a visual aid allowing them to see at least 20/40 and puts them through a program of driving with a special instructor who specializes in bioptic driving. The image to the right is my bioptic aid. It is called a OcutecH VES-II it magnafies things 6X. It allows me to see 20/40. This device is used to spot objected. In other words you look through it and find what you need, look at it, then return to the lenes in the bottom (these lenses don't have any perscription in them).

The 2nd thing I use is a pair of contacts. Now you may say it's nothing new. But these contacts correct my red color blindness. I got a set of contacts to try without the red to see if the perscription was ok. It ended up being wrong in the left eye so I went this evening and got them redone, they will be in next week sometime.

I'm excited about the whole prospect of driving, something I thought that I would never be able to do and now I'm getting the chance.

Strange happenings There was this guy that used to come into work and talk computers. with me He was an older guy in his 50's, but he stayed up with technology. We figured out that we did everything the same when working on PCs, and discussed the idea of starting a computer shop.

Well since I was gone from work for 3 weeks I got out of the loop. The day before I went back to work I had this odd feeling that Mike was going to come in that next night with good news about the shop.

That all changed tonight, I was at my former manager's house working on their machine and she brought up that Mike passed away. Needless to say I was in shock, I didn't know of any sickness he had or that he was in bad health. I'm going to try and find out what happened, strange stuff. My heart goes out to his wife and family. Posted by chris at 09:46 PM Personal • (0) Trackbacks

Superbowl Party I'm no huge football fan. But I think of the superbowl as an excuse to go and watch a football game on a big ass screen with a bunch of friends with booming speakers and pizza out to my ears. This year was no different. We had 8 Papa John's pizza's on hand, some chips, and of course...bean dip.

I got there early because I was suppling the sound. James has a 53" HD WS TV but as of now, no sound other than the built in speakers. So I brought along my Klipsch 2.1 speakers. His TV has a handy headphone jack on the side that made pluging them in easy even though I was prepared if it didn't have that feature.

Since we had time to kill we took out his brother's new 4-wheeler out for a spin, we pulled a sled with it. I woosed out because I didn't want to take any chances with my arm but I ran and grabbed my camcorder and shot a couple minutes of footage. I might post some up if it came out halfway descent as long as the camera didn't die in the cold.

The game was fun...only because we made it that way. The room was split in half as far as team favorites goes. I was personally for NE and looks like I made a good call. I did have my doubts, just when I got confortable with a lead it seemed to slip away from us. But we ended up comming out on top.

As for the commercials. They weren't too good this year. My favorites are as follows to the best of my memory.

-The Bud Light dog commercial
-The ref getting yelled at at the game and then at home
-Clydesdale Donkey
-Horny Talking Monkey
-Sierra Mist: Where's Wallace?
-Randy the Supply Supervisor

Watch all the commercials at iFilms

As for the whole Janet/Justin thing. It was planned. It would take an idion to believe the "malfunctioning garment" gig. Why would she be wearing a "nipple burst" if it wasn't? Read this (thanks to them for the pics too). I knew that MTV would pull something like that, they do it on their network all the time, only difference with the Super Bowl is that someone is auctually watching! Which was worse this year's stunt or last year's fashion statement? It's a toss up to me. Janet is starting to die out and she's getting old. Her career is slipping (she sang like 2 year old songs!) and she needed something to boost herself back into the spotlight. I still don't like her so it didn't work on my. Next year undress someone hot like Hillary Duff (woops too young) oh how about Liz Phair? Ya that would be hott, and I doubt anyone would complain.

Anyway, it was a good day, I did have to work this morning after being called into church to fix the powerpoint system. I leave church one week and the whole thing goes to crap. Guess I should like being appriciated shouldn't I? Posted by chris at 11:51 PM Personal • (29) Trackbacks

Busy but getting better I know I've been slacking on the posting. I really should post more. But the last week or 2 have just been a total blur. I've worked on so many computers, worksed so many hours, it's not funny. The good news is that it looks like its slowing down. I like the money but also like to relax! B-Day Shindig As some of you know (from the countdown on the left), that my B-Day is coming up on Thursday. What am I doing for the big 1-8? Well looks like just a LAN party. I've invited a few friends over to frag away the day. I'll probably open up the server to the public if you want to frag with us. Throw a comment my way if you have any of the following games and would like to play on the 6th.

-Unreal Tournament 2003
-Tony Hawk 3
-Tony Hawk 4
-Quake 3
-Soldier of Fortune
-Soldier of Fortune 2
-Enter the Matrix (working on this one)

You'll need the latest patches to play. We will kinda play whatever we feel like that day but I'll try to post info about the game (except my IP addy) on the blog. I'll also post tons of pics.

We also plan on getting a nice LCD projector here and having a XBOX, PS2, and GameCube here to play as well as DVDs. Should be a fun geeky party. Posted by chris at 02:02 AM Personal • (17) Trackbacks

Kati "Who is your girlfriend? How come you never mention her? Is she hot? I'd like to read more about her." -Tony

I don't know how much I am allowed to say. But yes I am seeing a beautiful girl right now. Her name is Kati, we have been together for 6 weeks now. I met her on a drama club field trip back in early June. I better ask before I post a picture of her for you all to drool over. If you watch my comments you'll see her post every once in a while, all I ask is that you guys play nice.

UPDATE: I got permission to post a pictures, I cropped this one out of a group shot, click to enlarge. Posted by chris at 12:40 PM Personal • (6) Trackbacks

Friends leaving I know some of you have gone through this before and are saying I sound like a 2 year old, but oh well. And I know I have talked to a few of you about this in chat.

As of Tuesday, one of my best "girl" friends left the state probably won't be back. She is my old paster's daughter and they moved up to Washington state to paster there. Her and I have been friends for the past 4 years and I'll admit that I have had a crush on her for the whole time. I never really told her how I felt about her, she knew that I liked her, but never knew how much I really did. And now that she is gone I am already starting to miss her badly and it's only been 5 days! I mean I only saw her once a week, but it's just kicking in that I probably won't see her and I had her for 4 years and never told her how I feel Sounds like something from a movie huh? Just don't think this story will have a happy ending. I wrote her letter this evening letting her know how I really felt about her, I know it's too late, but to help ease myself I wrote it and I'll send it soon. She is understanding. I plan on keeping in touch with her by AIM and Email. Just will miss seeing her beautiful face every Sunday. Posted by chris at 11:36 PM Personal • (0) Trackbacks
